Transfer of teachers opposed

Students of Oriental College have demanded revocation of transfer orders of six teachers within February 21 .
Oriental College Students' Union general secretary Sinam Apollo said that the college has become an NAAC accredited autonomous college due to the effort of these teachers.
As such, they would strongly object transfer of these teachers, he said.
Saying that the Government issued transfer orders of English, Chemistry, Physical Education, Physics, Botany and Anthropology teachers on February 6, Apollo said the students would launch agitation if these orders are not revoked by February 21 .
He also urged the Education Minister to resolve the issue peacefully.
Meanwhile, students of DM College of Commerce staged a sit-in-protest at the gate of the college against transfer of an English teacher Sanayaima today.
DM College of Commerce Students' Union general secretary Ch Bikramjit said that the college has only two English teachers including Sanayaima.
Moreover, Sanayaima is a senior teacher who is about to retire, Bikramjit added.
He said that they would initiate different agitations if the teacher is not brought back to the college.
