Imphal, August 17:
Emergency Relief Committee JN Hospital convenor K Meghachandra has today informed that a total of 415 patients have been treated at the JN Hospital for injuries sustained in the ongoing agitation during the last one month.
Informing that the committee which was set up with the primary aim of helping the injured victims have been providing relief measures to the victims since July 16, Meghachandra said that out of the sum of Rs 1,90,946 donated by the public Rs 1,40,199 have already been spent on providing medical assistance to the victims.
Stating that the committee is facing a lot of difficulties in picking up injured persons as the Government has failed to meet the committee's demand for three ambulances, Meghachandra said that ten persons including six women are presently undergoing treatment for injuries sustained during confrontation with police personnel.
He also said that there is acute shortage of X-ray film, bandage, cotton and spirit to meet the demands of the injured persons and further appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and take up appropriate measures.
Coming down heavily on the doctors of the JN Hospital, he complained that most of the doctors were neglecting their duties and concentrating more on their engagement in private clinics for some quick money.
