Attack at TNL Office : Ukhrul DC assures to beef-up security

Even as a sit-in protest was held today to register condemnation of the second bomb attack at TNL office that caused insecurity in the district, the District Administrator SK Chourasia has assured to take up stringent security measure to monitor the problem of law and order in the district.
A sit in protest against the bomb attack was held today even as many organisations condemned the act.
It may be mentioned that the explosion has shattered the main door and inside doors completely while also shattering the window panes of the building.
The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, SK Chourasia while delivering his speech at the sit in protest vehemently condemned the act while calling upon the people of the district to shun the path of violence.
Symbolic agitation will be launched by TNL at every block to be spearheaded by Zonal leaders.
Besides, a special prayer programme for ensuring peace at the district would also be held.
The TNL stated that the attack at TNL Office was an attack to the whole Tangkhul community.
So far no group/individual claimed responsibility for the attack.
TSL strongly condemned the second time attack at the TNL office targeting/ destroying the property of Tangkhul.
The TKS, TNWL, HKL , TMNL condemned the attack.
The Hunphun/ Ukhrul Executive council and the Hunphun VA called upon all concerned group or individual to restrain from such activities in future.
NNN ADDS: The United Naga Council (UNC) said it is greatly disturbed by the violent exchange between NSCN-IM and ZUF on November 16 at Phailong in Tamenglong district.
The UNC said the incident has resulted in loss of precious lives and injuries.
Villagers have fled the villages in panic as the confronting sides are reported to be gearing up for another showdown.
The atmosphere in the area is vitiated with insecurity.
We condemn any form of violence because it silences the voice of reason within society and within oneself.
We appeal to the armed groups as we have always done in the past, to allow space for dialogue to come in place so the noble cause that they espouse may be upheld unitedly in spirit of brotherhood.
"We also condemn the bomb attack on the office of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), in the heart of thickly populated Ukhrul town on the night of November 16.We reiterate that such abominable act are alien to the culture and social values of the Naga people.
While it is the moral obligation of every Naga to uphold the traditional institution of the people, some mindless force have once again attacked and insulted the same," the Naga body added.
The civil society, which upholds the unity and oneness of the people once again appeal to all concern to refrain from violence, use of terror weapons and indulging in self infliction which reduces our hopes and aspirations as a people, it stated.
TNL Condemns: The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has unequivocally condemned the blatant and dastardly act of terrorism by bombing its office on November 15 night in Ukhrul district headquarters.
The attack on the office of the TNL is an attack on the entire Tangkhul community, the apex Tangkhul body said.
"Let it be known that violence and intimidation will lead us to nowhere; rather we should adopt the path of reconciliation where we can attain peace and tranquility in our land," the TNL added.
The TNL then said it will not be cowered down by this threat and intimidation and if the attackers wish to address their issue we can always resolve through peaceful means.
"Ours doors are open," the TNL further said.
