I-Day celebrated on high note, DC Jacintha bids farewell

The 70th Independence Day celebration was held at Senapati Public Ground where Jacintha Lazarus, Deputy Commissioner as the chief guest inspected her final Guard of Honour which was led by parade commander Tholu Rocky, SDPO, Mao.
50 contingents which comprised of men and women police personnel, VDF personnel, ASHAs workers, ICDS Aganwadi workers, 35 AR Band, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, students, scouts and guides from various schools participated in the parade.
Cultural dances of various communities made the programme more vibrant.
The celebration programme was also attended by MLA Dr V.Alexander Pou, K Kabib, Superintendent of Police Senapati, CEO, ADC Members, DLOs, Army Officers, members of civil bodies, village leaders, staff members of all the Government offices and people from all walks of life.
DC Jacintha Lazarus spoke on various developmental projects and works implemented in the district.
The DC while speaking on the need for empowering women also highlighted various programme undertaken like IWMP revolution by introduction of cash crops, creation of water networks, earthquake resistance housing for affected victims, school construction under MsDP, flower festival and floriculture, introduction of PMKSY, installation of CCTVs, power and solar supply under MSPDCL, Senapati emporium for entrepreneurship, cleanliness drive and others.
As part of the event, stalls of various Government Departments were put up.
Sericulture Department was conferred the best stall whereas the second best stall was conferred to SBI team, Senapati.
DRDA team bagged the best team while ADC CEO team, Senapati won the second best team in setting up of welcome gate.
After the formal programme, a friendly football match was played between DC XI and public leaders XI where the defending champion DC XI again won a penalties shootout.
The I-Day was also celebrated in all respective sub-divisional Block including Song Song Block, Tadubi Block, Purul Block, Paomata Block and Willong Block.
SDOs distributed blankets to village leaders, sports materials to youth clubs.
ADC Senapati also celebrated the Independence Day at the ADC campus after 25 years.
Laptops were distributed to all ADC Members and Head of Departments.
