Imphal, April 01 2016 :
A public meeting held today at Lilong Bazar under the aegis of AMMOCOC, AMMSO and Lilong Municipal Council has resolved to prevent all sorts of confrontations on communal lines particularly between Meiteis and Meitei Pangals.
Apart from AMMOCOC, AMMSO and Lilong Municipal Council, the meeting was attended by many civil society organisations including AMUCO, UCM, CCSK and CIRCA.
The meeting condemned all anti-social activities which are aimed at inciting communal rifts and disintegrate Manipur.
To dissuade all organisations/groups from imposing bandhs/blockades on communal agenda and prevent them from calling bandhs/blockades between Lilong Bazar and Ushoipokpi without consent of all local clubs/organisations was another resolution of the meeting.
In case of any theft or other unlawful acts and in case the perpetrators are caught red-handed, they should be handed over to the authorities concerned rather than subjecting them to any fatal punishment on the spot, reads the fourth resolution.
The meeting further resolved to work together with the separate JACs constituted in connection with the Mayang Imphal incident and thereafter and the State Government in order to resolve the issue amicably at the earliest.
In the April 11 incident at Maynag Imphal side, shops were looted.
