Lamka, January 15 2013:
A pioneer cable network provider in the state, Hornbill Cable Network (HCN) today launched its first digital format here with the State Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing formally launching the superior quality of television broadcasting.
HCN has started feeding household televisions using cables in mid 1980s, as one of the first cable network providers in the entire North Eastern region, and has since continued to adopt the latest technology to enhance its service.
In addition to providing higher resolution HD video, digital cable systems provide expanded services such as pay-per-view programming, cable internet access and cable telephone services.
The digital cable signals are encrypted, and will thus reduce the high incidence of cable theft which occurred in analog systems said Cole-a, Horbill's managing director.
Bookings for set-top boxes, a necessity for the digital format, has begun he said.
Earlier in the day, Tonsing had inaugurated a newly founded drug and alcoholic rehabilitation centre called the Trinity Centre at Pearsonmun village, an outskirt locality.
Seeking to be distinctive in its approach towards rehabilitating the addicts, the new centre will be managed and run by the Hope Foundation Trust.
