Imphal, September 14 2020:
The All India Students Federation Manipur State Council has said that till this day the Government has not been able to punish even a single person involved in a major drug haul case according to the law.
Drug menace has always been a major issue in the State.
Drug smuggling and the number of drug users are on the rise, AISF said in a release.
The seizure of drugs in the State in large quantities shows the involvement of influential people in the drug smuggling rackets.
The Government should make a sincere effort to stop this crime, it further said.
Whoever forms the Government it should take action against criminals and antisocial elements.
They are the enemies of society, it said.
Without even going into details, none of the persons involved in major drug haul cases have been punished according to the law.
Even though it has been years the cases are still under investigation, it said.
Those MLAs who have resigned recently, if they have resigned it for this kind of cause people would have lauded them, it said.
If at least one or two of these drug smugglers were awarded punishment, the everyday affair of drug seizure in the State might have decreased a little, it added.
