Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation launches project Amodini

Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation in association with Versatile Group (Ludhiana, Punjab) launched Corporate Social Responsibility project Amodini and installed sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerator at its premises today.
Amodini - happy girl child is a project launched in 2016 which aims to break menstrual taboos that jeopardize the health of millions of girls every day.
The project raises awareness on menstrual hygiene and empower girls to take action, as menstrual should not hold women back from participating fully in society socially, educationally and professionally, said a statement of Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation.
The goal of the alliance between the boxing foundation and Versatile Group is to deliver an effective menstrual health management programme for the budding sportswomen in Manipur.
The project includes installation of sanitary napkin vending machines and incineration at institutions or community level.
Menstrual hygiene management workshops, awareness campaigns and evaluation and survey to estimate extent of change will also be held, said the statement of secretary of the foundation, Jimmy Leivon.
The launching ceremony of Amodini was attended by MC Mary Kom, MP Rajya Sabha.
Athletes of the boxing academy, staff and representatives of Versatile Group attended the event.
Dr RK Praneshwari Devi, Associate Professor Obstetric & Gynae Department, RIMS, Imphal facilitated an awareness programme on menstrual health at the event, added the statement.
Managing Director of Versatile Enterprises Pvt Ltd Arun Seth said: "It is indeed a moment of merit, wherein we have got opportunity to carry out social initiative with guidelines from an Iron lady, Hon Mrs Mary Kom.
She is stimulation for not only aspiring women but a bona fide image of women empowerment".
MC Mary Kom thanked the Versatile Group for the alliance and wished that the "project and awareness reach all corners of the country and change the lifestyle of the girls and women" .
