Imphal, February 13 2013:
The Zeliangrong Baudi, (Manipur) has strongly condemned the statement of veteran politician O.Joy and terms it as 'irresponsible utterances' trying to relate the Indo-Naga peace talk with the Kohima incident where a driver from Manipur was found killed.
O Joy has termed the Imphal-Dimapur road as a "graveyard" for Manipuri drivers following a driver identified as Ningombam Gorvardhan was suspected to have been killed on February 8 by his own handyman identified as one Thanlal Kuki from Kotlen village of Churachandpur district in Manipur.
"Such utterances have been frequently used by few irresponsible persons in their efforts to mislead the general public.
However, the general public knowing well of the intention of these persons never subscribe or succumb to such propaganda which are, in fact, futile exercises.
The conception that the general public are ignorant, unaware, economically poor thereby can be fooled at anytime have proved fallacious when the people manifested their wisdom by outrightly rejected persons like O Joy to be the people's representative in the last election.
O Joy promised to debate the Indo-Naga issue in the floor of the State Assembly but lost in the election is an indication that the people are yarning for peace," the Zeliangrong Baudi said.
It then said the Indo-Naga peace talk is to bring permanent peace in the region as such, every reasonable and peace loving people are supporting it.
The ZB(M) also stated that dragging the Indo-Naga peace talk into the killing incident of the driver by his own handyman is a smear campaign against the peace loving Naga society with desperate attempt to mislead the general public.
"It would be more appropriate and proper for O.Joy to term the Imphal or Manipur valley as the killing field or cemetery or crematorium ground for businessmen and labourers coming from other parts of India considering the fact that so many innocent businessmen have been killed for failure to cope up to the huge monetary demands.
Labourers particularly the Biharis were killed in Imphal without any justifiable reasons.
Trying to rake up the irrelevant issue to equate other issues would never succeed as the people have the capability to differentiate differences between what is right and what is wrong however, it would only expose the true intention of the person's real mindset where the public are the best judges for it," the ZB pointed out.
