Imphal, November 12 2011:
Loktak Development Authority (LDA) has approved to grant livelihood package of Rs 40, 000 for the phum hut dwellers (encroachers) in the Loktak lake.
A joint team of LDA and district administration officials will visit the phum huts on November 15 to settle the payments on the spot.
LDA has informed the phum hut dwellers at Loktak lake to be present at their respective phum huts on the day to claim their livelihood package.
If the phum dwellers are not present at the time of inspection, their claims would not be considered in future, said a press release.
They are also informed by the LDA to get their names registered with the office of LDA from November 12 to 14 during office hours.
LDA also informed that all the phum hut dwellers would be evicted without further notice from November 16 under Section 20 and 21 of the Manipur Loktak Lake (Protection) Act, 2006 .
