Charitable works continue as lockdown enters day 19

To assist the State denizens in braving the hardship brought by the Nationwide lockdown, more and more people and group are donating relief materials.
Here are highlights of where food supplies were provided on April 12 .
Lions Club of Kakching Greater District 322-D distributed food items to select people at different localities under Kakching Ward no 12 .
Pradhan of Sapam Gram Panchayat, S Rameshwor Singh provided food supplies to the residents of Kwatha Village and Kwatha Khunou Village under Tengnoupal district.
Wangkhem Block Congress Mahila Committee and Wangkhem Youth Congress Committee distributed 10 kg of rice each to 2000 households in different areas of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency.
Ibotombi Memorial Charitable Trust also distributed food items such as rice, dal and drinking water to 12,500 households in Heirok Assembly Constituency.
Moirangthem Okendro, who is the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), is the incumbent chairman of the trust.
The trust also provided edible items to journalists based in Thoubal district.
Manipur Terriers 165 Battalion also provided 5 kg of rice, 5 kg of wheat flour, 1kg of sugar, 1 packaged milk and biscuits each to 22 villagers of Nungba village and 10 villagers of Bolongdai village, Noney, today.
MLA of Kumbi Assembly Constituency, S Bira also handed out edible items and Dettol soaps to households at various locations of his Assembly Constituency.
During the inaugural programme of his distribution campaign, the MLA promised that he will be providing free rice to NFSA beneficiaries for a month in addition to the rice to be provided by the State and the Centre Government.
Former Kumbi Municipal Council Ward No 7 Member, Kh Gojendro also provided edible items to differently-abled persons and widows under his ward.
Education Minister, Th Radheshyam also doled out edible items to Glory Children Home in Moirang apart from donating a sum of Rs 10,000 on account of the lockdown and Cheiraoba.
While raising awareness about the COVID-19 to the inmates of the children home, the Minister urged the management committee of the home to introduce skill development programmes.
Thamnapokpi Mayai Leikai Development Committee also helped 43 lockdown affected households of its locality with edible and sanitary items.
Many individuals and local body representatives at Toubul, Nambol and Irengbam also reached out and distributed edibles to lockdown affected households.
Former MLA of Khangabok AC, O Landhoni and MLA, O Surjakumar also came out to distribute edible items to households in Thoubal Achouba, Thoubal Wangmataba, Awangleikai, Kshetrileikai, Ningambam, Sabantongba, Okram and Leishangthem areas to help reduce the shortage of essential items during the lockdown.
Other social workers and philanthropists in Khangabok AC also distributed various food items in other parts of the AC.
Meanwhile, City Cow Association, Thoubal Bazar has come out to support and show solidarity to police personnel posted at various locations of Yairipok, Khongjom, Leishangthem, Thoubal Bazar and Lilong Bazar by handing out packaged food, drinking water and dry foods.
Laithagol Langjing Lup, Kakching Laithagol Leikai also distributed edibles and candles to around 250 households and journalists of the area.
The lup has also encouraged Kakching police personnel by offering packaged fruit drinks and water apart from contributing food items to BDS Children Home for Girls.
Distribution of food and sanitary items was also seen at various places under Wabagai AC and Pallel Gram Panchayat under the aegis of respective local representatives.
Councillor of Kakching Khunou Municipal Council Ward No 8, Khumukcham Gojendro has extended help to residents of Kakching Khunou Hijam Sanakhong Leikai, Hijam Maning Leikai and Chekshapat Leikai stranded in other parts of the country by contributing Rs 500 each to their respective accounts through local clubs and bank staff.
Jiribam: The MLA of Jiribam Assembly Constituency Md Ashab Uddin has started distributing free rations in his entire constituency from today.
The rations were distributed from the MLA Local Area Development Fund to ensure the flow of basic commodities to the people during lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The commodities were distributed in the presence of local members, Pradhan and club representatives by maintaining social distance and other measures.
The items distributed include 1 kg each of potatoes, wheat flour, salt, dal and a half litre of mustard oil.
Torban Khetri Leikai Gram Panchayat Pradhan Longjam Ongbi Chaobi has distributed relief materials to people of Singjamei Wangma Pebiya Pandit Leikai.
Pebiya Pandit Leikai Youth Development Organisation distributed the materials - potatoes, fermented fish (Ngari), dal, cabbage etc.
YLK Club Chingarel Tejpur donated relief materials and monetary aid towards Khundrakpam MLA COVID-19 Grievances Relief Fund.
Many from Pukhao Naharup Makha Leikai, Taretkhul, Keibi Awang Leikai, Pukhao Khabam, Lamboikhul and Pukhao Laipham have also donated to the fund.
The donated relief materials are being distributed to people of the Constituency, said sources.
Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) under local MLA RK Imo has started distribution of rice (4 kg per person above the age of 5) .
The distribution is being done through FPS agents and committees concerned.
Those who have not yet got their share of rice may contact the agents concerned for availing the rice, said a statement of the committee.
Other essential items, like onions, edible oil, vegetables will also be distributed soon, it said adding drinking water will also be distributed to people at Sagolband area.
