Valley Rose Hungyo, Editor of Tangkhul newspaper Aja Manipur has added another feather in her cap by launching a monthly magazine (Tangkhul) today at Nagaram Community Hall in Imphal.
The magazine is christened Aja Kachang.
She will now edit both Aja daily newspaper and the magazine .
Speaking to Newmai News Network this evening, Valley Rose Hungyo, while talking about the magazine, said that it is a non-profit venture.
Speaking on the reasons for launching the magazine, Valley Rose Hungyo “feels” the daily newspaper alone is incomplete in rendering service to the people.
She said that important articles or information published in the daily newspaper do not stay long as readers dump them for the next edition after 24 hours.
At least readers will feel articles in the monthly magazine are “valid” for a month, she added .

Valley Rose Hungyo said that this first edition of Aja Kachang magazine is dedicated to her late husband Ngathingkhui Hungyo who passed away a couple of years ago .
It is worth noting here that Aja daily newspaper will celebrate Silver Jubilee this year.
Aja newspaper was launched on December 3, 1992.Meanwhile, a DIPR report added that Parliamentary Secretary, Planning and Transport, Manipur, Khashim Vashum, MLA of Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, Alfred Kanngam Arthur, Pastor of MBC, Rev.L Simon Raomei, Director, Jesus Gospel Ministry, Ashang Kasar and IPR Director, Meghachandra Kongbam graced the function as chief guest and guests of honour respectively .
Rev.L Simon Raomei opened the function with a prayer on the theme of maintaining peaceful co-existence and solidarity in the society stating that magazine release event is a milestone and worth a celebration, the DIPR report said .
Addressing the gathering, Khashim Vashum appreciated the role of media and appealed the Tangkhul community to improve their reading habits of newspapers.
He lauded the efforts of Valley Rose and her husband in for bringing the Aja daily to its current status from its initial formative days of scratch against all odds on the way.
He also spoke on focusing on avenues to include more informative items like appointment and interview notices in their daily and magazine, the DIPR report further added .
Alfred Kanngam Arthur said that media based on the truth can touch “our hearts and bridge the gap between valley and the hills”.He also expressed his viewpoint on the need to read the truth and maintain media ethics.
He further said that in a volatile State like Manipur the role of media is important in bringing unity and harmony in the State .
Ex Additional Director, IPR NG Woleng, who was also present at the function , said that the Tangkhuls should encourage literature and start reading Tangkhul dailies and magazines by increasing subscription instead of criticising articles written by others.
Constructive suggestions will sow the seeds of development, he added .
Aja Kachang magazine covers articles on legal matters, health, GST, MDS Scam and other issues, the DIPR report also said.
