TDDC lauds

The Tongjeimarin District Demand Committee (TDDC) has issued a statement expressing gratitude to Governor Dr Najma Heptullah, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and other Cabinet members declaring Noney district.
TDDC had been demanding creation of Tongjeimarin district for 18 years, said the statement and added that though Tongjeimarin may not have been declared a district, the declaration of Noney district is in line with the demand to TDDC as its demand is for Khoupum valley to be the district headquarters.
The Committee has also asked the Government to include all the proposed areas in the map as submitted to the State authority.
The statement explained that the crux of the demand lies in developing the most underdeveloped areas along Tongjeimarin road and to include NC road area villages along with Noney, Haochong bordering Kangchup area in the north east, Lukhambi, Awangkhul and Rangkhung in the north, Kaiphundai, Kaimai areas in the west upto Gulerthol; Tongtu, Tuiphai, Thanlon-Vangai range in the South, the areas affecting Tingpui-Rangeng of Loktak Project in the South East and Chongphun, Wainem, Namching, Khonglong in the east.
The statement said the TDDC will continue demanding the inculsion of the proposed areas, excluding Nungba, Khoupum, Noney and Haochong.
At the same time, TDDC expressed gratitude towards the State Government for the creation of Noney district.
