Imphal, December 08 2015:
The ongoing construction of the new market complex for women at the infamous Tombisana High School site is set to be completed by 2017 if construction works are not deterred by bandh or blockades.
The construction works for the building began in October 2014 under Simplex Project Private Limited under the arrangement of the Government of Manipur, PWD Building Division I staff who are in-charge of supervising the ongoing construction works told The Sangai Express.
The construction works were halted in December 27-28 the same year after human skulls were discovered from the construction site, formerly school ground of Tombisana High School.
The construction works recently resumed from October 20 this year.
The ground of the three-storeyed market building has been completed by nearly 60 percent, a PWD Building Division I staff said.
While metals and sand for the construction are imported from outside the State, the cements are bought in bulks from authorised dealers here in the State.
About 30-50 labourers are presently engaged in constructing the foundation part of the building.
The number of labourers would be raised to around 100 when the construction of major parts of the market is started.
Built on approximately 65-66 square feet of land, the new market complex will have an underground parking system.
The State Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 30 crore for the construction of the market building.
