Three individuals including two residents of a village located along Indo-Myanmar border in Chandel district was assaulted by a group of armed perons clad in combat uniform last night.
According to information received by press, the incident of assault took place at N Gamnom village, located about 15 kms North East of Moreh town.
The assailants numbering around 30 sneaked into the village from Myanmar at about 10 pm.
They bashed up the three individuals without making any inquiries.
In addition to Manipuri, some of the assailants spoke Tangkhul dialect and Myanmarese language.
The injured victims have been identified as Thonglenkhup Guite (23) s/o late Shopao, Seikhomang Guite (30) s/o late Jamkholun and Babu Meitei of Moreh Keithel.
Babu is said to be an owner cum driver of a Shaktiman truck.
Thonglenkhup and Seikhomang are residents of N Gamnom village.
The duo were admitted in Christian Hospital today.
Thonglenkhup had his left leg and right hand broken besides suffering injury on the buttock due to bayonet attack.
The assailants also broke the left hand of Seikhomang in addition to injuring the nose by bayonet.
Babu had his right leg broken.
Taking strong exception to the unexplained assault, the KSO Moreh Block has condemned it in the strongest term.
Denouncing the assault, health and environment secretary of the student body Lalboi Mate has urged upon the authority concerned to open an AR post near the village.
