Teenager found dead, road blocked

Following the suspicious death of a teenager, Imphal-Yairipok road was blocked by a group of infuriated people at Irilbung this morning.
Family members found Sandham Nimex alias Ibungo (18) s/o Anil of Irilbung was found dead at JNIMS Casualty Ward last night.
Even though some friends who went together with Nimex said that he drowned in Ningthem Pukhri, family members are not ready to accept their version.
According to family members, one Kongkham Poirei (22) s/o late Premeshore of Bamonkampu Khabam Mayai Leikai came to the house of Nimex in a Chevrolet Optra car and the duo went out together at around 10 am yesterday.
At around 5.25 in the evening, Oinam Ananta (22) s/o late Ibohanbi of Bamonkampu Khabam Mayai Leikai informed Nimex's elder brother Usham that their friend was at the hospital.
The phone call was returned immediately but there was no response.
When the same number was dialled again a few minutes later, the family members were told that Nimex had drowned in Ningthem Pukhri.
When Umesh and his father went to JNIMS, Nimex was found dead.
Nimex was found wearing only an underwear.
His mobile phone could not be discovered and it was found switched off.
Blood stains were seen on his nose and his head had turned blackish.
Clothes worn by Nimex were found washed and dried on the bank of Ningthem Pukhri by the mother of one Kangjam Kennedy of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, said the family members.
A public was held at Irilbung this morning on the suspicious death of Nimex and a JAC was constituted.
Immediately after the meeting, Imphal-Yairipok road was blocked.
JAC convenor Th Sunil said that four people were involved in the death of Nimex and all four of them were together with Nimex yesterday.
He demanded the authorities concerned to book and punish all four of them according to law without undue delay.
Whereas a case has been registered at Porompat police station in connection with the suspicious death of Nimex, the corpse has been deposited at JNIMS mortuary.
