Imphal, June 06 2009:
Without education no society can advance or compete with others.
Solution to all problems lies in education, said Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii.
DD Thaisii was speaking as chief guest in a meritorious award distribution function held today at the Lamphelpat residence of Saikul A/C Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Doukhomang Khongsai to felicitate toppers and highest scorers of Saikul A/C in the class X and class XII examinations.
The TD Minister said that AK 47s and grenades cannot solve any problem.
Saying that each household in the valley has successfully created their sources of earning, Thaisii lamented that families in the hills were yet to create their means of earning.
Questioning this difference between the hills and valley, Thaisii exhorted the hill students to study and educate themselves.
Among the communities of Manipur, Meiteis have made greater advancement, he observed while calling upon the hill people to learn the positive aspects from the Meiteis.
Many families have been sending their children to schools with great difficulties and financial hardships, Thaisii exhorted the students to work hard and compensate the hard labour of their parents and also groom themselves as competent citizens.
Taking part in the function as guest of honour, MLA I Ibohalbi said that toppers of Saikul A/C are future hopes of not only the constituency but for the whole Manipur.
The act of killing non-local people has been one of the many activities which are unacceptable in a modern society, he observed while attributing such activities to lower level of education.
He maintained that all men are equal even if they belong to different communities or profess different religions.
Observing that many students who would become future assets of the State have been pursuing higher education in other States, Ibohalbi cautioned that the people of Manipur would feel deeply hurt if other people started targeting these students.
In his presidential speech, MLA Doukhomang Khongsai exhorted the toppers and first divisioners of Saikul A/C in class X and class XII examinations to work harder so that they can become competent citizens.
