Minister of Development for North Eastern Region (DoNER) sanctioned a sum of Rs 74.79 crore for 9 different projects of Manipur during the current year 2007-08 upto the end of December 2007 under the Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources.
Sources from the Ministry said that a sum of Rs 7.86 crores for construction of 10 Primary Health Centres including barrack type quarter in valley areas, Rs 5.45 crore for construction of 32 Primary Health Sub-Centres in hill areas and Rs 2.57 crores for construction of 18 Primary Health Sub-Centres in valley areas was sanctioned on October 24, 2007 .
The Ministry sanctioned a sum of Rs 7.49 crore for construction of Veterinary Hospitals in 9 districts, Rs 18.56 crores for improvement of Jiri-Tipaimukh Road (4-48 Km), Rs 17.55 crores for improvement of JN Hospital, Rs 8.86 crores for augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Konthoujam in Imphal West District, Rs 4.29 crores for augmentation of Water supply Scheme at Purul in Senapati District and Rs.2.16 crores for augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Tungjoy in Senapati District on December 27, 2007 .
During the year 2006-07, the Ministry sanctioned 14 projects.
Of which a sum of Rs 3.78 crores for Sarva Shiksha Abhi yan was sanctioned in Education sector and a sum of Rs 18.43 crores for establishment of National Sports Academy at Khuman Lampak .
Six projects namely construction of Dharamsala building at RIMS (Rs 2.82 crores), construction and equipping of 50-bedded hospitals at Ukhrul (Rs 13.97 cr), Tamenglong (Rs 14.37 cr), Chandel (Rs 13.16 cr), Jiribam (Rs 15.64 cr) and Senapati (Rs 14.26 cr) were sanctioned.
In Roads and Bridges Sector, six projects were sanctioned.
The sanctioned amounts were Rs 2.20 crores for construction of bridge over Heirok river at Heirok Chingdongpok, Rs 2.76 crores for construction of bridges over Thoubal river at Haokha, Rs 3.41 crores at Leisangthem and Rs 3.34 crores at Irong Ichin, Rs.4.71 crore for construction of bridge over Imphal River at Kyamgei and Rs 4.32 crore for construction of Kumbi bridge over Khuga River at 10 kms of Moirang-Kumbi Road.
