Alleged fake encounter case : 7 more cops surrender before Court

Seven more police personnel, against whom CBI/SIT have submitted charge sheets in connection with alleged fake encounter/ extrajudicial killings in Manipur, surrendered before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East today.
All the seven charge sheeted police personnel appeared before the Court along with bail prayer applications through their respective counsels.
The Court allowed the prayers of the seven charge sheeted police personnel and they were all released on bail of Rs 75,000 each along with one surety and with the direction to appear before the Session Court Imphal East on September 29 .
The police personnel who surrendered today include Sub Inspector Potsangbam Tarunkumar s/o (L) Koireng of Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai, Potsangbam Maniratan s/o (L) Koireng of Haobam Marak Lai Khurembi, Head Constable Yengkhom Keshorjit s/o Y Binoy of Awang Leikinthabi Makha Leikai, Head Constable Elangbam Abung s/o (L) Komol of Langthabal Phuramakhong, Head Constable Chabungbam Sanamacha of Langjing Achouba Maning Leikai, Head Constable Khulak Joseph Maring s/o Khulak Marow of Narum village (Chandel) and Sub Inspector Md Islauddin s/o (L) Kiyamuddin of Kiyamgei Makha Leikai.
The charge sheet against the seven police personnel was submitted before the Courtof Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East for taking up necessary legal procedure by Pavitra Kumar Roy, PI, SC -III, CBI, New Delhi, on August 7, in connection with the alleged encounter of one Zamir Khan along the inter village road of Kyamgei on January 20,2012, at around 9.15 pm.
It was alleged in the charge sheet that the said police personnel, led by SI P Tarunkumar and SI Maniratan, on getting information about the movement of some underground militants for carrying out prejudicial activities and bomb attack at the residence of active Congress workers in connection with 10th State Assembly election along the inter village road of Kiyamgei, rushed to the spot where the alleged encounter took place.
It was also mentioned that one 9 mm pistol along with a magazine and some explosive materials in a red plastic bag were allegedly found near the body of the deceased individual who was allegedly killed in the encounter.
