Imphal, May 04 2016:
Newly appointed president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Kshetrimayum Bhabananda has vowed to strengthen the party in the State.
Speaking at a reception function organised in his honour at their Nityaipat Chuthek office, Bhabananda said that he never anticipated that he would be given the president's post.
He said, "I sometimes ask myself whether I am competent to handle the top party post amidst the changing political scenario.
However, with the kind of support that I have received from the party workers, I now feel that there is no need to get discouraged" .
Contending that he needs dedicated companions, Bhabananda said, "I would follow the footprints of Pabung Chaoba and put in my best efforts to strengthen our party" .

Stating that absence of good administration is the root cause for all the problems faced in Manipur, he observed that wrong and ambiguous notions present in the people's minds are the other reasons for these problems.
Former president Th Chaoba said that the party faced the problems of paucity of fund and lack of party workers when he became party president in 2012 .
Saying that the past three years were the years of elections, Chaoba said that Lok Sabha election, by-election of Hiyanglam AC, ADC elections, by-elections of Thongju and Thangmeiband and Municipal and Nagar Panchayat elections were held during this time.
Contending that BJP courageously faced the muscle and money powers of Congress in these elections, Chaoba said that BJP made remarkable progress in Lok Sabha election and Hiyanglam AC by-election although the party had to concede defeat.
However, BJP captured both the seats in the by-elections of Thangmeiband and Thongju ACs while Congress began showing its downfall in Municipal and Nagar Panchayat elections, he said.
Saying that semi-final and final challenges are yet to come, Chaoba said that BJP would form the Government in the State in 2017 if the party performs well in the upcoming Imphal Municipal Council election.
Now the newly appointed president would carry forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National leaders' Congress-mukt Bharat (Congress-free India) campaign in the State, Th Chaoba said.
He urged the BJP workers especially the youth to up their confidence and maintain good team work to achieve the party's goal under the new leadership.
MLAs, former Ministers and MLAs, senior party leaders and party workers were present in the function.
