Imphal, February 04 2019:
The North East Students' Organisation (NESO) of which AMSU is a constituent member has been lobbying hard and campaigning against CAB 2016 at Delhi.
A team of NESO led by its advisor Samujal Bhattacharya (who is also advisor of AASU) has been camping at Delhi since some days back.
The team which also includes AMSU president Manjit Sarangthem and NESO secretary general Sinam Prakash has been holding separate meetings with many Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha leaders and MPs.
They met JD-U vice president Prashant Kishor, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, BJP Lok Sabha leader Bhartuhari Mehtab and many political leaders of the North East yesterday.
Today too, they held separate meetings on CAB 2016 with YSRCP leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Vijaya Sai Reddy, AICC president Rahul Gandhi and MP Saugata Roy.
The NESO team while highlighting the disastrous impacts CAB 2016 will bring about in the entire North East region, urged the political leaders to see that the same Bill is withdrawn.
It has been reported that NESO has already resolved to fight the Bill together with the indigenous peoples of the North East until the Bill is withdrawn.
During his meeting with the NESO team today, Rahul Gandhi assured that Congress party will do what is necessary in the Parliament if CAB 2016 will affect socio-economic and cultural identity of the North East people and violates the Assam Accord 1985 .
Rahul Gandhi reportedly stated that Congress party will oppose the CAB 2016 in case the Bill is tabled in the Rajya Sabha.
