Imphal, July 03 2017:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has sought a concrete assurance from the new State Government that the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM would not impinge upon the interest of Manipur in any manner .
The UCM celebrated its 17th foundation day at their Lamphelpet office today .
Speaking on the occasion UCM president Elangbam Johnson said that the people of Manipur and UCM have been standing firm against any challenge to the integrity of Manipur and the sanctity of its territorial boundary .
He expressed keen desire for the State Government to delve into the details of the Framework Agreement which remain unknown to the people till date .
If the Framework Agreement is confined to the State of Nagaland alone, then there is no harm.
However, if it challenges the territorial integrity of Manipur, UCM would be constrained to take up all necessary counter measures in consultation with the people, Johnson said .
A report has been received that Government of India's interlocutor RN Ravi would talk with leaders of different communities at Dimapur on July 6.If the report is true, it is time for the Government of India to divulge all the details of the Framework Agreement .
The Government of India's obstinate refusal to divulge anything about the Framework Agreement evokes strong suspicion.
Things will not be pleasant if the Government of India is deceiving the people, he said .
Asserting that UCM is always committed to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur, Johnson called upon all the people of Manipur and like minded organisations to be always prepared to fight for the integrity of Manipur .
IPSA president Kh Chingkhei, UPF president S Ratankumar, NIPCO president O Premjit, AMKIL president Ph Sakhi Leima, PANDAM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, ACOAM Lup president Ksh Somorendro and Kanglamei president Y Leirikleima attended the foundation day function as presidium members.
