ZYF to resume its stir

Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has decided to resume its suspended agitation including indefinitely blocking NH-37 as the Government has failed to translate its promise of shifting Tamenglong DC's office and other district level offices to Tamenglong district Secretariat complex.
In a statement, ZYF said that they have discussed the matter in an executive meeting held on May 25 and date for resumption of the stir would be announced within a few days.
The State Government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi has deceived the people of Tamenglong district by way of indulging in nepotism and favouritism at the time of awarding contract works by adopting deliberate suppressive policy in order to keep the people of the district from getting actual development, ZYF alleged.
Saying that neglecting the district by the State Government is not a new thing, ZYF said that hill districts particularly Tamenglong has been suffering without any sign of immediate improvement under the present Government.
The State Govt's popular slogan of developing hill and valley equally is in fact a complete lie, it added.
During the meeting held on February 28, 2016 between ZYF representatives, the Govt gave its commitment to relocate the office of Tamenglong DC and all the other District level offices to the district Secretariat by the first of week of May, ZYF said.
Chief Minister of Manipur O Ibobi, then Works Minister Kh Ratankumar, HAC Vice-Chairman Z Kikhonbou Newmai, Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei and MLA Biren were present at the meeting.
The points which were agreed by both the sides were issuance of necessary orders for completion of all pending works by the Chief Secretary, issuance of necessary orders to DLOs by Tamenglong DC for immediate shifting of their respective offices to Tamenglong district Secretariat, inspection of security barracks by DGP, paying visit to Tamenglong district Secretariat complex by the Works Minister along with the Chief Engineer of PWD and others, shifting of DC's office and all the District level offices to the district Secretariat complex by first week of May and resumption of the agitation by ZYF in case the Govt fails to implement and fulfil its commitments.
Tamenglong Secretariate complex was inaugurated by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on November 3, 2011 .
