Kangpokpi readies for Assembly polls

Kangpokpi, March 03 2017:
Preparations have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the Assembly elections in the three ACs of Kangpokpi district which will go to the polls in the first phase on March 4 .
With 11 candidates in the fray, 46-Saikul (ST) AC is believed to have the highest number of contenders from a single AC in the State.
Four candidates, including one woman, who is the sitting MLA, are in the fray in 50-Kangpokpi (Gen) AC while a triangular fight will be witnessed in 51-Saitu (ST) AC.
Polling personnel have been be despatched for their respective stations from DC Complex, Kangpokpi today.
At the same time, the Additional DC, Kangpokpi has informed the contesting candidates and their agents that the strong room at Mini Secretariat, Kangpokpi�where the EVMs for use on poll day are kept after commissioning � were today opened for issue to the polling parties.
Further, sealing of polled EVMs will be conducted on March 4 after the arrival of all the polling parties and submission of the EVMs at the receiving centres and deposited the same at the strong rooms at Mini Secretariat complex, Kangpokpi.
The ADC, Kpi has informed all the contesting candidates and their agents of the three ACs to be present in the opening and sealing of the strong rooms.
