AMSU warns against hiking fee

All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has warned private schools in the state against hiking fees for admissions and tuitions from students in this academic session.
The student body has also made it clear that no private schools should charge higher amount of fees than the fee structure finalised by the union in the last academic session.
Addressing a press meet in this connection at its head office located within DM College Campus, Vice President of AMSU Md Abdul Haque Shah said that AMSU has been standing for the betterment of the society and its people.
So, the Union would be enforcing the fee structure finalised last year in a public meeting for this academic year as well in an effort to bring about a Transformation in the Education System of the State.
In order to enforce the fee structure, all educational institutes should submit a detailed report of the current fee rate being charged from students to the head office of AMSU by January 10, he said and warned that any educational institution which neglects the request should themselves be responsible for any eventuality.
The student leader further appealed to all the CSOs and individuals and organisations not to interfere in the matter.
AMSU would not compromise on its stand at any cost.
He also said that an institution can charge not more than Rs 100 higher from the fee structure of AMSU if the condition is reasonable.
He further informed that AMSU had appealed to the state government to enforce a separate fee structures for the private schools last year.
Even when schools in hill districts have adopted the fee structure, it is yet to be implemented in the valley districts, he lamented.
Urging the Education Department to look into the matter at the earliest, he also appealed to the people of the state to extend cooperation to the efforts being made by AMSU.
