New Delhi, April 26 2011:
Former OC big boss Suresh Kalmadi was walking into Patiala House court when he was greeted by a chappal that narrowly missed him.
Even inside the court a hassled Kalmadi did not get any relief.
The court ordered him to CBI custody for the next eight days.
For the man who was the face of the Commonwealth Games and who always seemed confident that he would remain untouched in the investigations that followed, this was possibly one of the lowest days of his life.
Pune, which is home to Suresh Kalmadi saw angry protests on Tuesday morning.
Many BJP workers held demonstrations all over the city and organized signature campaigns demanding his resignation as Member of Parliament.
Kalmadi was arrested by the CBI on Monday and just hours after that the anti Kalmadi faction within the Congress, ransacked the MP's office in Pune.
Prashant Surse, Vice President, Pune Youth Congress said, "now that the CBI has arrested Kalmadi we request Sonia Gandhi that no corrupt man should be a member of our party." His own city, Pune, where he was one of the most powerful men, has turned against him and now he's the target of a slipper just before he being sent to custody, Suresh Kalmadi's high flying journey is beginning to get grounded.
