Anglo-Manipuri war recalled

Women Welfare Organisation Kangleipak (WWOK) remembered the war fought by the soldiers of Manipur against the British invaders in 1891 by organising a function at Kwakeithel today.
Chief Administrator of Life Watch, Advocate Angomcha Araba, WWOK president Ksh Bala and CHITUWA president M Purnimashi graced the occasion as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The gathering honoured Paona Brajabashi by offering floral tributes to his portrait.
Speaking at the occasion, Angomcha Araba said that it is the responsibility of every Manipuri to remember the supreme sacrifices made by the martyrs to protect the sovereignty of Manipur.
Contending that Manipuris are the descendants of the brave sons of the soil like Paona Brajabashi, Thangal General and Bir Tikendrajit, Angomcha Araba said that the people of Manipur must follow the footprints left behind by them.
Speaking on the present context, Araba said, every Manipuri must put in effort to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
It is the responsibility of the citizens of the State to maintain peace, integrity and harmony among various communities of the State, he added.
Ksh Bala while speaking at the function said that WWOK has been observing the day every year.
The people of Manipur must remember the sacrifices made by the patriots as it identify the courage and bravery of the people of this tiny State, she added.
Ksh Bala observed that all the mistakes could be rectified if the people of Manipur follow the footprints of the forefathers.
