Imphal, June 24 2013:
The All Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians' Association today asserted that initiating admission process of medical students by the Health Directorate by issuing counselling forms is against an interim order of the Supreme Court of May 13 is punishable.
A statement issued by the All Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians' Association said that the interim order of the Supreme Court on May 13 only allowed States and private medical colleges to declare the results of the Entrance exams.
And there is no order of the Supreme Court that allows admission.
As interpreted by a vacation bench of SC comprising Justices Gyan Sudha Misra and Madan B Lokur on June 11, all admissions being made would be subject to the final outcome of the Judgement to be passed by the other bench according to the interim order of May 13, the statement said.
Amidst this standing order of the Supreme Court, initiating admission process on the basis of merit list of NEET is punishable,
it said.
Urging the public to consider the matter thoroughly, the statement also said that the SC's interim order could be accessed from the association's president or secretary.
Further urging the Government to annul the illegal process it initiated against SC interim order, the association also appealed the authority concerned to conduct the State PMT exam at the earliest so as to save the career of many aspirants.
It also warned that the matter would be taken to the Supreme Court if the appeal
is not heard.
