Murder accused father-son duo remanded to police custody

Imphal, June 23 2019:
Tongbram Inao and his son Tongbram Tomba of Naorem Makha Leikai were remanded to police custody till July 1 by Duty Magistrate, Imphal West today in connection with the investigation into the murder of Tongbram Maipak (Inao's brother) yesterday.
The father and son duo were produced before the Duty Magistrate, Imphal West by a team of Wangoi police along with a prayer for 9 days police custody remand and during the proceeding, the IO submitted that yesterday afternoon, an unknown dead body belonging to a male was found at Ishok Maning Leikai.
The body bore many wounds suspected to made using a sharp weapon and hence a case was registered for investigation.
During the investigation the deceased was identified as Tongbram Maipak (60) s/o (L) Nobin of Naorem Makha Leikai and in the meantime, information was received that the younger brother of the deceased identified as Tongbram Inao and his son Tongbram Tomba were hiding in a house at Naorem Mayai Leikai and as such, a team of police rushed the spot and found them hiding under a bed and promptly arrested them.
During preliminary interrogation, the two individuals revealed that they killed Tongbram Maipak using two machetes and the weapons were seized on their disclosure.
The seized murder weapons were also exhibited before the Magistrate during the proceeding.
After hearing the submission and going through the case records, the Court remanded the two individuals into police custody till July 1 .
On the other hand, local clubs, Meira Paibis and locals of Nambol Naorem have decided to banish the father and the son from the locality for life in connection with their crime.
