Tribal Folk Festival flagged off

Kangpokpi, October 16 2017:
A Tribal Folk Festival cum seminar was flagged off today at Tumuyon Khullen, Kangpokpi district under the sponsorship of Ministry of Culture, Government of India and organized by the Maram Art and Literature Association (MALA), under the theme, "Tribal Folk Festival for National Integration" .
The festival was inaugurated by MFS, Superintendent of Taxes, Government of Manipur, Th Sanglou .
The MFS officer graced the occasion as the chief guest while General Secretary, Maram Union, T Abraham and Director, Art and Culture, Dr Sushila Devi attended as the president and guest of honour respectively .
Various cultural troupe, including MALA Senior cultural troupe and T Khullen Baptist Church Women Society, presented cultural dance and choreography during the opening ceremony while other prominent artiste also presented different folk songs .
Altogether, 16 dance team, 6 singing team and 7 prayer team including 1 instrumentalist from different villages across Kangpokpi and Senapati district will participate in the three days long festival while Tribal Culture and its importance on various field will be emphasized during the event by various resource persons including Acting Principal of Mt Everest College, Meithuanlungbou Gonmei, Curator of State Museum, Dr Benita and Assistant Professor, MU, L Pungding .
Speaking to media persons, Chairman of MALA, Th Thumbu Maram said, "Our beautiful culture, tradition and identity are diminishing due to the wave of mixed culture since we are unable to explore our identity through our culture and tradition" .
Th Thumbu Maram, who is also a recipient of various State awards appealed everyone to promote their own culture and tradition while promoting peace and integration among all communities in every village, so that national integration is achieved.
