Imphal, July 13 2011:
Contending that a State security team opened fire on a group of contractors near the office of Superintendent of Police (Bishnupur), a special contractor namely L Pati Singh demanded that State authorities initiate appropriate punitive action against the guilty personnel.
speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today, L Pati of Paona Bazar Governor's Road said he along with contractors Solomon Aimol of Sangaiprou and Ph Adim of Namdulong called on the SP (Bishnupur) last evening.
In the SP's chamber three persons, whom Pati identified two of them as Lumlougei and Jeban with the third said to be an individual from Konthoujam, were also present.
With the SP advising all present to ensure no trouble takes place in connection with the road development work under PMGSY programme at Khoupum village of Tamenglong district, Pati and his two accomplices witnessed about 15 unidentified persons inside three vehicles after crossing the entrance gate of the SP's office complex.
Informing that Ph Adim had a heated argument with some persons who were near the gate, Pati said atleast two gunshots were heard moments later which he opined was directed at them.
On being contacted, he claimed, the SP disclosed involvement of a Manipur Rifles Jamadar, who is the younger brother of Lumlougei, in the incident.
The special contractor also contended that SDPO (Imphal West) had informed him at about 7 pm of the said evening that Lumlougei and 2/3 persons have been pulled up while Jeban had been evading arrest only to be told later that Jeban had also given in to the police.
While confiding that the accused persons contacted Ph Adim today to settle the matter amicably, Pati maintained that complaints have been lodged to top police authorities to take punitive action against the guilty persons as security personnel indulging in such unlawful activities is not a new development in the State.
He further informed that the said road development work had already been completed in October 2010 and the bill withdrawn in May this year.
