Imphal, March 13 2023:
The Group of MPSC Aspirants (GOMA) has urged the State Government to withdraw the Cabinet decision adopted on February 23 to fill up 43 seats of SDC based on the results of MCSCCE 2016 (2022) .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, GOMA spokesman Dihemlung Golmei pointed out that the MCSCCE (main) 2016 was re-conducted in 2022 following directives from the High Court and the Supreme Court as there were many lapses and discrepancies in the examination process.
The final result of the main examination was declared on November 22 last year.
After 82 candidates were selected for different posts through the particular exam, the State Cabinet adopted a decision to fill up 43 additional posts of SDC through the same exam.
Taking strong exception to the Cabinet decision, Dihemlung Golmei said that the MCSCCE 2016 (2022) was held as per the MPSC exam rules based on the number of vacant seats.
If 43 additional posts must be selected through the same exam, it would be a blatant disregard of the MPSC rules.
Moreover, selection of candidates by more than 50 per cent of the notified seats is something unheard of in any part of the country, he said.
He then urged the State Government to withdraw the Cabinet decision.
Pointing out that the MPSC has not been conducting civil services examinations since 2016, Dihemlung Golmei said that a large number of aspirants have been preparing for civil services examinations all these years.
