Imphal, August 11 2019:
Joining the public outcry against the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana, a protest demonstration was staged today at Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai under the aegis of BJP Thangmeiband Mandal.
BJP State unit vice-president Jyotin Waikhom who took part in the sit-in-protest said that one common wish of the people of Thangmeiband is to do justice to the mysterious death of Babysana.
He then urged both the State Government as well as the JAC Against the Mysterious Death of Ningthoujam Babysana to hold dialogue even if there were misunderstandings between the two in the past and come to an agreement.
He also appealed to the State Government to release all the arrested protesters without any condition.
Jyotin claimed that detaining the protesters for long would aggravate the crisis but their release can bring normalcy.
He exuded confidence that the State Government would work out a solution soon to address the trust deficit that seemingly exists between police and public.
Opining that the JAC's demands have been fulfilled sometime back, the BJP vice-president pointed that post mortem examination has been conducted twice in line with the people's wish.
A special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted before the case is handed over to CBI.
But the stand-off between the Government and the public continues as if there is a disconnect, he remarked while appealing to the authorities concerned to deliver justice.
Conveying that he met the arrested JAC members in jail today, Jyotin said that he appealed to the JAC leaders to find out the gap that seemingly exists between the JAC and the Government.
Later, the protesters led by Jyotin submitted a memorandum to the Government in connection with the mysterious death of Babysana.
On the other hand, demanding establishment of the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Babysana and befitting punishment of all, the Paragon Club Cum Information Centre, Khurai Tinsid Road and Meira Paibi Mothers' Association, Khurai staged a protest demonstration from 11 am till 3 pm today.
The Paurabi Nupi Lamjing Lup, Paurabi Yaipha Naharol, Nungoi Awang Leikai Development Committee and students of GEM Public School too staged a protest demonstration.
