Police net gang of vehicle lifters

With the recovery of three stolen two-wheeler vehicles, a team of Imphal Police station has rounded up a vehicle lifting gang of four.
Displaying the lifters and the recovered vehicles today to the media at Imphal Police Station, OC of the PS, Inspector Shantikumar said the four gang members have been arrested during the last three days while also adding that the police are making all out efforts to arrest the kingpin of the gang.
He said, one lifter identified as Ayekpam Sushilkumar (34) son of (L) Khomei of Mutum Phikou was arrested on April 9 in front of AG Office.
Later, another vehicle lifter identified as Ayekpam Maijaoba (28) of Mutum Phikou Mayai Leikai was arrested from Wahengbam Leikai, Imphal the next day, he said.
Later in the evening of the same day, another person identified as Md Amu (52) son of (L) Abdul Lula was arrested from his Lilong Khunou residence.

Acting on a tip off, Thokchom Gambhirchand (25) son of Gandhi of Mutum Phikou Mamang Leikai was arrested on April 10, the Inspector said.
Inspector Shantikumar said, a Yamaha Libero motorcycle (MN-01M/9534) was recovered from Md Amu while a Honda Activa (MN-01D/3675) was recovered from Gambhirchandra.
A yamaha FZ motorcycle without registration number was also recovered from the four of them.
The OC said that a man from Lilong area is a mastermind of the vehicle lifting gang.
The gang had stolen around 35 vehicles and handed the stolen vehicles to this mastermind.
He added that all out efforts have been made to net the kingpin.
Charging the all the arrested gang members were drug abusers, the OC urged all vehicle owners to use double-lock system for the safety of vehicles.
