Imphal, August 10 2016:
As usual, four rebel groups namely United National Liberation Front of WESEA [UNLFW], Co-ordination Committee (CorCom) Manipur, Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) have boycotted the country's Independence Day.
Indian Nation's August 15 celebratory is afoot.
Students as well as white and blue collar employees of the Indian State will be herded on to parade grounds to salute the Indian tri-colour.
Some of her citizens would watch the fanfare, if not anything else, conveyed a press release issued by CorCom media coordinator Ksh Yoiheiba.
The continuous racist attacks on WESEA people in mainland India, the latest being the humiliating incident of Monika Khangembam of Manipur proves the vulnerability of the people of the region inspite of carrying the stamp of genuine citizenship and passport.
The musclemen, the Indian Armed Forces, have been kept well fed and sharply toothed with draconian laws like AFSPA to be able to crush dissent in this alleged sham Indian democracy run by mostly corrupt people and thugs who do not have any inkling of the 'C' of the word Constitution but they are the law makers at whose mercy lies 'our people's' destiny, said the statement.
Unfortunately in the whole of the alleged Indian occupied WESEA, like in the previous years, India's territorial claim will be reaffirmed very visibly for all to see with an expansionist agenda.
"We know that there are some Indophiles who are disloyal to their roots for ulterior motives unfortunately would participate; and some others just to save their skin in the symbolic gala event of India", it alleged.
The expansionist India's hegemonic designs have captured the region with deceit and might.
"With this historical reality we, the fraternal revolutionary parties of our region are totally committed to free our region from the colonial clutch of India.
Our multi-faceted resistance movements against this tyrannical Indian occupation are un-daunting and unwavering.
We are determined to free our whole region, uprooting Indian rule for good", it asserted.
However this will be possible only if the citizens assert together for the value of freedom, pride of one's own identity based on one's roots and traditions.
Only a brief look at the present stark reality around with a careful observation should make one shiver at what is taking place in the whole WESEA region.
The world's largest collection of pristine indigenous tribes of unique and myriad cultures is slowly being lost to the subtle changes bringing in self-destruction, following a mirage of progress of the elusive Indian utopia.
It then called upon all the people to rise together against oppression and tyranny for freedom .
"Let the whole world know that from the East of Bangladesh to the West of Myanmar, we, WESEA people cannot be subjugated and suppressed anymore; let our message be loud and clear that we stand against Indian Occupation and subsequent racial annihilation", it continued.
It appealed to every civilian to avoid public gatherings and students should stay at home to boycott the Indian National celebrations.
As a part of the visible resistance movements, the oppressed people must rise against the Indian hegemony and boycott the India's Independence Day.
All public and private transportation should come to a grinding halt, all shops and markets should draw their shutters down and educational institutions should remain closed on August 15 from 1 am till 6 pm.
However, essential and humanitarian services are exempted from this total shutdown during the stipulated hours, it added.
