Works Minister inspects roads

Apart from issuing strict instruction for re-construction of the culvert near RIMS Electricity, which was constructed by the HVS Construction, Works Minister, Kh Ratan has told the concerned staff to initiate action against the erring contractors.
The Minister, accompanied by accompanied by officials of the PWD including the Chief Engineer , Lokendro, was inspecting various roads connecting important offices and Hospitals within Greater Imphal area.
The team inspected roads leading to RIMS via Sanakeithel; road stretch from Waheng Leikai to Pishum; Singjamei-Kongba Road; and Andro Parking-Hatta.
Peeved with the sub-standard construction of the culvert near RIMS' Electricity office, the Minister has issued strict instruction to the PWD officials to initiate stringent action against the contractor concerned.
Interacting with the media, the Minister said the Government would never compromise with any work that is undertaken against the interest of the public while admitting that the department concerned should also share the blame for failing to oversee the work.
He instructed the officials to re-construct the culvert.
Kh Ratan also said that he would inform the Home department about the construction of a VDF post by encroaching not only the drain, but also part of the road at a place along the stretch of Lamphel-Sinam Leikai road.
He also instructed to speed up the construction of road between Wahengbam Leikai and Pishum on war footing.
He was enraged to notice that no construction worker was seen near Keishamthong.
Later speaking to reporters at his Chamber at PWD office, Khoyathong, Kh Ratan said the Government has been planning to keep all the roads within Greater Imphal in tip-top condition before the onset of next year's monsoon.
He said black-topping of all roads within Greater Imphal would be completed before the coming monsoon.
