KYU embarks on special cleanliness drive to combat JE outbreak

Kanggui Youth Union [KYU] embarked on special cleanliness drive at Kangpokpi town today as a preventive measures to combat Japanese Encephalitis, our correspondent reports.
The cleanliness drive was organized in collaboration with Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kanggui We Care, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, Kangpokpi PS and various educational institutions within Kangpokpi.
Hundreds of Kangpokpi populace participated in the drive which was formally opened by L Vaiphei, Officer-in-Charge, Kangpokpi PS in the presence of Chonkam Kipgen, Chairman Kangpokpi Town Committee and Hechon Singson, president, Kanggui Youth Union.

Bushes, water logging, litters and waste material from IT road to SFS, Daili Kangpokpi; IT Road to KT College along Imphal-Tamenglong road via Inspection Bungalow, National Highway-2 to ADC complex, JNV campus and CHC campus, National Highway junction to District Council complex, ZEO office, Kangpokpi Bazar and the surrounding area of Brigadier Thomas ground were cleaned during the drive.
Hechon Singson, president KYU said that the special cleanliness drive in the town has been initiated as precautionary measures to combat various vector borne diseases including JE.
He urged the populace of Kangpokpi to keep their surrounding clean and tidy and maintain a hygienic way of living.
Meanwhile, the town committee and various other local bodies including KWCare lauded the initiative of the union and appealed the general public to put sincere effort in making the town cleaner.
