JAC comdens Govt's slow progress

The Joint Action Committee against the inhumane gang raped of ******* and brutal killing of Keisham Premila Devi strongly condemned the inactive and slow progress of the State Government in processing the cases.
A release issued by the convenors of the JAC noted that the slow progress in the final disposal of the cases might lead to get a chance to the culprits for taking undue advantages on their part for getting anticipatory bail through unfair means like bribery.
Recalling that the joint JAC was formed in conjunction with other civil society organisations in the State, it further stated that the JAC would go jointly with other like minded social organisations to obtain justice on the heinous crimes committed by the miscreants which also involved security personnel of the State Government.
A representation in this regard has also been submitted to the Chief Minister for taking stunt action against the culprits, added the release.
The release further stated that the two JACs already submitted memorandums separately to the Chief Minister and Home Minister to sentence capital punishment to the culprits and to take a concrete decision on the floor of the Manipur State Assembly to set up an Act to protect woman in the State against any sort of crime.
***** of Longlei village, Khoupum, Tamenglong was gang raped by four persons including two security personnel on March 22 at Keinou.
In connection with this, the OC of Bishnupur police has registered a criminal case and arrested the four culprits who were involved in the inhumane act.
In addition, Keisham Premila Devi (45) d/o K Irabot Singh of Wabagai Thingel Leikai, Thoubal was dead at Kakching Mahadeva Hill on April 10 and subsequently Kakching police has arrested one M Khelendro of Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng, Thoubal.
Meanwhile, another statement issued by The Naga Women's Union Manipur, Zeme Naga Council Manipur, Rongmei Women's Association (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) have strongly deplored the immense delay on the part of the State Government in tackling the delicate issue relating to the gang rape of ******* by four miscreants on March 22 at Keinou.
A joint press release issued by three apex bodies mentioned that the slow process in the submission of the charge sheet has also contributed in the great delay of the case.
The release further urged the State Government to initiate immediate and necessary actions to get justice on the merciless killings of Keisham Premila and Loitam Richard, a student of NRV Architecture college Bangalore.
