Agitating teachers sign MoU with Government

The agitating teachers have agreed to call off their strike and they have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government regarding the demand for implementation of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 today, showed a copy of the MoU available with the paper.
The MoU was signed during a meeting of the representatives of AMCTA (All Manipur College Teachers' Association) and (Federation of Government College Teachers' Associations) with Chief Minister N Biren Singh in the presence of Education Minister S Rajen, Chief Secretary, Commissioner (HTE) and others.
The MoU mentioned that the pay as per UGC 7th Pay Commission recommendations will be notional from January 1, 2016 .
Arrears for the period from April 1, 2019 to 31 March 2020 will be put into GPF in July 2021 .
Arrears for the period from April 1, 2020 to 31 March 2021 will be put into GPF in April 2022 .
Cash payment will be from April 1, 2021, payable in the month of July 2021 (Arrears for UGC 7th Pay for April-June 2021 will be payable in July 2021) .
Point 5 of the MoU said AMCTA and FEGOCTA agreed to call off their ongoing strike.
Further, the agreement noted that no disciplinary action will be taken against any of the teachers who had participated in the strike.
Meanwhile, FEGOCTA in a statement issued to the press late this evening appealed to the Government to issue an acceptable order implementing the 7th UGC Pay and regulations, 2018 as per the Cabinet decision of August 6.The new order must clearly mention the adoption of the 7th UGC Pay on the line of ROP, 2019 with payment of arrears from April 1, 2019 onwards and UGC Regulations, 2018 .
The cease work continued at many colleges, however elections of the college student union were relaxed today, it said.
