Imphal, May 05 2013:
Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has urged the people of the State not to give communal implication to the unfortunate incident at Silent village.
The incident was an outcome of a land dispute between Silent and Seijang villagers, it added.
In a press release, HERICOUN urged the State Government to provide adequate compensation to the victims of the arson at the earliest.
Maintaining that the incident happened due to State Government's failure to intervene into the matter in time, HERICOUN also urged the Government to put in sincere effort to check such ugly incidents in future.
Observing that the incident was not intentionally instigated by a few individuals, HERICOUN said that it was an uprising of the whole villagers of Seijang.
Demanding immediate unconditional release of the five persons involved in the incident, HERICOUN said that detention of a few selected individuals may further aggravate the situation.
HERICOUN also demanded that the issue be resolved permanently by the State Government.
