IRB men remanded to custody

Eight IRB personnel, who were apprehended by Assam Rifles with a huge quantity of drugs including ephe-drine tablets, were remanded to police custody.
They were nabbed by troops of 42 Assam Rifles at Bongyang of Chandel district while they were on their way to Moreh to sell the drugs to Myanmar.
They were travelling towards the border town in a vehicle with their service arms and in IRB uniform.
On checking the vehicles by AR personnel, 90 kgs of ephedrine tablets and other drugs were found concealed inside the vehicle.
They were handed over Tengnoupal Police Station along with the seized items and service weapons.
A case (Section 21/22/27-A/29 under ND&PS Act and Section 13-B under Drugs and Cosmetics Act) has been filed against the eight IRB personnel.
They have been identified as Subedar Md Jaherruddin (54) of Lilong Arapti, Rifleman Elangbam Debendro (33) of Hiyanglam, Rifleman Thangjam Tiken (25) of Serou, Rifleman L Romojit (30) of Nongpok Kakching, Rifleman S Vio Poumai (33) of Karong, Rifleman A Rameshwar (25) of Thoubal, Rifleman P Dhanabir (23) of Pallel and Rifleman Ksh Prafullo (33) of Kakching.
