NH shutdown threat issued

All Manipur VLW/LDC Selected Candidates, 2016 (RD&PR dept) has today announced its decision to impose a total shutdown on National Highways of the State on December 1 and 2 if the Government does not fulfil its demand at the earliest .
This was stated by the Association's joint secretary while speaking to media persons during the protest against the non-issuance of offer form to the newly selected Village Level Workers (VLWs) and Lower Division Clerks (LDCs) in Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) till today by the Government .
Earlier the association members stormed the office of RD&PR at Porompat, Imphal East and locked the office .
The association members protested at the office gate raising their demand.
Later, police intervened and drove them outside the office premises .
Speaking to media persons during the protest, the association's joint secretary Huidrom Deeparani decried that the State Government has violated the rights of the newly selected VLWs and LDCs and victimized them as it has failed to issue them their offer forms till today .
She informed that 116 VLWs and 73 LDCs have been appointed in 2016 after conducting all the necessary tests and DPC and added that the association had also served multiple memorandum and an ultimatum to the RD&PR Minister as well as to the authorities concerned this year .
Conveying that the deadline given to the ultimatum has already expired, Deeparani warned that the association will call total shutdown on the National Highways of the State on December 1 and 2 if the Government fails to fulfil the association's demand by then.
