Imphal, September 29 2017:
Strongly condemning the reported activities of 44 Assam Rifles where the personnel deliberately littered and then cleaned a school campus in Mokokchung town, Nagaland followed by media coverage from the AR side, the Ao Students' Conference (AKM) demanded an apology from 44 AR and to surrender any media materials relating to the said cleanliness campaign .
In a letter to the Commandant of 44 AR, Imkongwati, president of AKM and Lolentoshi, Assistant GS of AKM said that the Ao students' body is drawn to a recent incident in some private schools within Mokokchung town regarding certain cleanliness programme carried out by the AR company .
The AKM pointed out that the school campus was deliberately littered and cleaned by personnel of 44 AR and the school children followed by media coverage from the AR side .
Asserting that Mokokchung is one of the cleanest towns in Nagaland and all schools maintain a very clean and hygienic environment, the AKM letter said the recent activity of the 44 AR has tarnished the very image of cleanliness of the schools in particular and the district in general .
It is not necessary to deliberately litter a clean surrounding/environment just to execute a certain cleanliness programme, the letter said.
