IRCS completes survey for livelihood support

Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State branch (IRCS-MSB) has completed its survey in Imphal West and Imphal East districts to provide livelihood support to selected women headed fami-lies of these two districts.
Speaking to reporters at the MG Avenue office of Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State branch, IRCS-MSB secretary Dr Y Mohen said that survey for the project entitled 'Economic Security to Women Headed Families of Manipur' was conducted in the two districts by IRCS-MSB volunteers along with two experts from Delhi.
He further said that data analysis of the said survey had already been sent to IRCS headquarters, Delhi.
Dr Mohen said that 19 selected volunteers covered five households each of 13 villages of Imphal West and 12 villages of Imphal East everyday during the survey.
Saying that the survey covered 350 households of the two districts, Dr Mohen said that the two experts from Delhi took part in the survey from June 16 to 19 .
Gross income of a family and number of family members were recorded during the survey, he added.
Prior to the commencement of the survey, IRCS-MSB volunteers interacted with Pradhans, Ward Members and other stake-holders to seek co-operation in this regard on June 16 .
Stating that the field survey was completed in four days, Dr Mohen said that 100 households would be selected from these two districts to provide livelihood support on poultry, weaving and grocery shop etc.
Saying that minimum financial support of around Rs 50,000 would be given to the selected households, Dr Mohen said that scheme is likely to be implemented in November or December this year or early part of 2017.He further said that apart from this project, IRCS has also given loan to 70 persons of the State so far.
Maintaining that IRCS conducted the survey in a unique way, Dr Mohen said that IRCS headquarters sanctioned Rs 2 lakhs for volunteers' remuneration and transportation for the survey.
