Imphal, November 28 2014 :
Residents of Langthabal Kunja, Langjing and Langol, whose lands would be affected by the proposed Greater Imphal Ring Road have said that no land acquisition would be allowed at these areas for the said purpose.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, JAC Langjing member Amakcham Oken said that although people always welcome development works, ring roads must not be constructed at residential areas as many families would lose their whole homestead complexes when land acquisition works are put into effect.
He said that every affected locality has formed their respective JACs against the Government's move and submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, Ministers and concerned MLAs.
However, no positive response has been received so far by the Government, he added.
Oken said that they would fight the matter in the Court if the said plan is not dropped.
Tharon village chairman Athon Gangmei said that Tharon Tarung is an old village.
He urged the Government not to forcibly acquire land from the village as it falls under forest land.
