Food processing training concludes

The 2-days training programme organised by Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) on "Food processing and value addition" for Orientale Organic Farmer Producer Company (FPC) Ltd and Ihao FPC Ltd under Mission Organic Value Chain Development For North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) Phase- II & III concluded today at Shirui village in Ukhrul district and Khambi village in Kamjong district respectively.
The programmes were conducted under the sponsorship of Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur.
At the event, resource person, Sonim Awungshi, CEO of Orientale FPC Ltd deliberated on the prospect of organic farming and benefits provided to registered farmers.
DSSS field staff, Honpam Phungshok stressed on the need to process surplus food and value addition for marketing.
He stated that skill oriented practices would increase the income of farmers and boost the local economy.
In the practical session, Singyaongam, CEO Sivathei FPC and Warson, CEO Ihao educated the participants on preparation of food items like green chili pickles, sweet ginger candy, salty banana chips, tamarillo (tree tomato) jam, sumac powder candy, kiwi jam and king chili pickle.
Altogether, 82 farmers from Orientale FPC and Ihao FPC including the FIGs of S Tusom, Angsherang (Chungka), Ngachamkhui-I & II (Khambi), Semmi, Angayung and Chanrei participated in the training programme.
