Imphal, July 28 2017:
Hospital authority has reportedly failed to furnish laboratory test result of a sample sent a week back even after the dead of a patient .
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club, Takhelmayum (o) Shila Devi said that her husband was admitted to Raj Medicity on July 21 after he complained of difficulty in breathing.
The next day, Medical Superintendent of the hospital wrote to State Epidemiologist/ State Surveillance Officer, IDSP, Medical Directorate saying a suspected case of Swine Flu was detected.
The MS also sought 20 numbers of Personal Protective Equipment and 200 Tamiflu .
Unfortunately, the patient passed away at the hospital on July 24.The hospital authority cited lung failure as the cause of his death.
Contrary to this, a report, quoting Health Dept’s source, was published in The Sangai Express on July 25 saying that a person suspected to have contacted Swine Flu had died at Raj Medicity, Shila said .
At the same time, the State Health Minister informed the House that there is no report so far of dead due to Swine Flu, she said adding that this has caused confusion .
It is also disturbing that the lab test result is not made available even after seven days, she said while expressing strong misgiving that there was conspiracy between two parties in her husband’s death.
As such, the Govt should take measure to get rid of the stigma attached to the family members particularly the school going daughter of the deceased, Shila urged.
She also urged the authority to furnish the report without any further delay.
