Orientation programme on 'Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight' held at Thoubal, Jiri

The District Health Society, Thoubal organized District Level Orientation Training on 'Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight 2019' at Conference Hall of District Health Society, Thoubal today.
Dr Ksh Memcha Devi, District Family Welfare Officer, Thoubal; Dr W Ruhinikumar, Pediatrician, District Hospital, Thoubal and T Anita Devi, DPO, ICDS, Thoubal were present as dignitaries on the dais in the inaugural session.
Ch Basanta Singh, District Programme Manager, District Health Society, Thoubal delivered key note address about the orientation programme.
He said that childhood diarrhoeal disease is one of the major killer of children aged between 0-5 years contributing 10 percent of under five years deaths in India and maximum of them are children from poor socioeconomic families.
He further said that the ultimate aim of 'Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight 2019 is zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea while adding that the District Health Society, Thoubal will organize the IDCF-2019 from May 28 to June 9 .
As resource person, Dr W Ruhinikumar Singh, Pediatrician, District Hospital, Thoubal thoroughly explained about the causes of diarrhoea among the children, the precautionary measures and interventions.
Dr Ksh Memcha Devi, DFWO, Thoubal explained about the role to be played by the teachers, Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs, ANMs and other stake holders for successful implementation of the IDCF - 2019 to be held from May 28 to June 9.She also mentioned about the crucial role of the CDPOs, Supervisors of the ICDS and appealed to all the stake holders to work hard to curb death of child due to childhood diarrhoea.
As part of the programme, ORS/Zinc and Zinc Corner Banners were distributed to all the health facilities.
Steps of hand washing posters were also distributed to the ZEO team and poster for preparation of ORS at home to the ICDS team.
JIRIBAM: As part of 'Intensified Diarrhoea Control Forthnight 2019' which will be conducted for two weeks, a one-day orientation training programme for Headmasters and Headmistress of different schools of Jiribam was conducted at the meeting hall of ZEO office, Jiribam today.
The inaugural session of the training programme was attended by S Lalmani Meetei; Dr N Soroja Devi; ZEO Jiribam and S Nabakumar as dignitaries.
As resource person, N Soroja explained about effective precautionary measures to avoid diarrhoea to the young students and demonstrated key hand washing technique to the participants.
Nodal Officer Th Budha Singh distributed hand washing materials to the attendees while BRP M Noyon Singh appreciated the participants for their keen interest while attending the training programme.
