Senapati, July 26 2016:
The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Senapati district has demanded the Department of Rural Development, Government of Manipur and its agency MSRRDA to cancel the work order for construction of roads under PMGSY in various parts of Zeliangrong areas.
K Patrick Zeme, president, ZSU, Senapati Zone said that the State Government has issued a work order for construction of roads under 10-Phase of PMGSY and MSRRDA in the name of Vs Nganingkui who did not join in the open e-tendering which is against the guidelines of PMGSY.
While expressing discontentment for awarding the contract work much below the schedule rate in the area, the union asked the State Government as to how the contractors would execute the work satisfactorily.
"No contractor in Manipur would execute contract work below the schedule rate", asserted Patrick Zeme citing an example of New Makan Dzuko road construction work under PMGSY IX-Phase which was allegedly executed without giving emphasis to its qualitative aspects.
He stated that if the State Government fails to respond, the union would be compelled to approach the apex organizations of the district for public uprising and indefinite democratic agitation.
The State Government should not take the advantage of the liberality of Zeliangrong community, he added.
The student body will approach the Central Vigilance Commission, Government of India for legal processing of the corrupted attitude of the Department of Rural Development and its agency during the ministership of Francis Ngajokpa, the then Minister of Rural Development, Patrick Zeme said.
