Imphal, October 25 2010:
Believe it or not !! But a man who maintains two date of birth has been found to be working in Electricity Department for the last 19 years, that too under a false name.
Accordingly to a reliable source, the matter has came to light during investigation of a case by the State Vigilance Commission.
The case is related to fraudulent appointment of a lineman in the Electricity Department through suppression of truth.
The lineman in question whose real name is Laishram Naba was appointed in the Electricity Department in 1981 as a work-charge employee.
In the appointment order, no detail about the employee were mentioned.
After the Vigilance Commission investigated into the case, it was confirmed that Laishram Naba s/o (L) Modhu of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai assumed the name of Laishram Ibobi to get the appointment.
At the time of verifying the documents submitted by Naba, the Commission came across an enclosed affidavit stating that he passed class VIII from Kom Keirap Aimol High School in 1974 and his name is Ibobi alias Akash but his land record is under the name of Ibobi.
When the Commission approached Kom Keirap Aimol HS for verification, it was learned that all the records of the school have been destroyed in a fire during the ethnic clashes of early 90s.However, when the Commission checked the land record, it was found that the land has been recorded not under the name of Laishram Ibobi but Laishram Naba and his date of birth was recorded as March 1, 1960 .
Further investigation led to the revelation that although Naba claims he is also known as Ibobi, Laishram Naba has been written in all the records related to admission of his children in school.
It was also confirmed that Naba studied in Popular HE School, which was subsequently upgraded as Nimaichand Hr Secy School when the School registers from 1959 to 1984 were cross-checked, and not in Kom Keirap Aimol High School as he claimed.
The Commission found out that Naba had passed class VIII from this school in 1965 and his date of birth in the school record is August 21, 1950 and not March 1, 1960 as he claimed.
Accordingly, the Commission recommended suspension of Naba from service on alleged charge of suppressing real information.
